I’ve been offline for a few years, floating in and out of the scene, busy with life, but always keeping this site in the back of my mind. In a way, our solitary confinement couldn’t be more Goth if we tried. Tucked away in a dark corner, listening to Shoutcast…
So here we are again, back at the tipping point of existence. What’s different? I’m re-discovering the original inspiration behind the whole GothicPlanet idea. Rather than jumping on the scene bandwagon with steaks swinging, I would rather creep into a dark corner and wait for someone to walk up and say hi.
GothicPlanet was all about connecting with others, the scene, and the lifestyle. Goth is not a particular fashion, a location, or an activity. Goth is a mindset. Yes, we enjoy common threads, but the definition of a Goth is more than the sum of the parts. There are as many types of Goth as there are Goths. So where does that leave GothicPlanet? Honestly, I have no idea. GothicPlanet will define itself with the passing of time. As people rediscover it, they will become the architects.
Stepping away from the past, there is only one person behind this site at this time. There is no secret cabal, or admin group. In fact, think of me as more of the janitor vs. some egotistical overlord. In holding onto GothicPlanet, I am combining two of my passions, the gothic lifestyle and building websites. The funny thing about all of this is that I am not particularly keen on the social networking thing. I like to build communities, let them govern themselves, and generally sit back and keep the gears oiled. From time to time I pop into the forums to say hi or start a flame war. For the most part, however, I sit in my darkened corner and hide out. This is why GP (GothicPlanet) needed admins in the past. I’m just not that good at it.
So here we are… I hope GothicPlanet brings us back together once again. The last Gothnic was dreadfully small and I recognized very few people. There was a time when we were a thriving community united by an idea that set us apart from the rest of society. Please help me spread the word about GothicPlanet. I intend to plant a few seeds, but will rely upon organic growth for the most part. The GothicPlanet drum is loud, but it needs to sing the song of its members and not me.
Follow-up: I will do my best to keep adding substance to this site. Hiding out will not help GP. Even if I end up talking to myself, you will, at least, have something to laugh at.
Cheers,
Trevor – the dark and spooky janitor…

The GothicPlanet Photo Gallery is online!
Digging deep into my archives, I found the old photo gallery and decided to post it online once again. I realize this is my "lot" in help to preserve the past. Many of these photos can only be viewed on GothicPlanet. If you find yourself the subject of a photo that you do not want posted, please
